Overview

OASI - Rome, nestled on Via Marmorata in the heart of the Eternal City, offers a refined journey into authentic Cantonese cuisine. This newly opened Chinese restaurant, launched in April 2024, excels in blending traditional flavors with an elegant dining experience that stands out in a city predominantly focused on Italian fare.

The menu is a compelling showcase of classic dishes, with ravioli, hot and sour soup, and Yangzhou fried rice capturing the essence of home-style cooking elevated to fine-dining standards. Seafood lovers will find the steamed fish and crab with minced pork exceptional, each dish demonstrating precise technique and freshness. Dim sum selections like Siu Mai and Xiao Long Bao add depth, inviting guests to savor time-honored favorites skillfully executed.

The space carries a warm, understated ambiance, perfect for intimate dinners or small group meals. Service at OASI matches the quality of the food—attentive and knowledgeable, though there is room for improvement in environmental comfort, as noted by some guests regarding air conditioning on warmer days.

OASI’s clientele leans toward adventurers and expatriates familiar with fine Chinese cuisine who appreciate the subtleties of Cantonese flavors and presentation. The emphasis on premium ingredients such as lobster, Branzino, and carefully prepared char siu ensures a memorable experience for those seeking genuine Asian culinary artistry in Rome. Advanced reservations are advisable for specialty dishes that require preparation, reflecting the kitchen’s dedication to quality over speed.

In sum, OASI - Rome enriches the city’s gastronomic landscape by offering a sophisticated alternative to typical dining options. It is a haven for anyone eager to explore rich Chinese traditions through a contemporary lens, making it a must-visit destination for both locals and travelers craving authentic tastes beyond the usual.

Even though it is on the pricier side, food was really good. Especially fish with mala (I believe) was full of flavors. Dongpo pork was mediocre. Too bad that they didn’t have chengfun anymore.. one thing to note is that although we asked for AC to be turned on, our request was ignored. Hope they get it on during summer since it can get extremely hot in the restaurant

Love this Chinese restaurant. Food was super fresh and tasty. Their steamed fish is the best. We ordered some dishes in advance they can prepare (sausage rice in clay pot). Everything we had was good. We came two times in a row. Definitely would come back again.

We are so pleasantly surprised by this newer Chinese restaurant in Rome. We came for dinner then lunch again to try different dishes. Very nice ambience. Service was great. Let the photos do the work.

Holy moly, it's the real deal and they're not ducking around. This is a new restaurant opened in April 2024, under new ownership, with a new menu that is focused on high-end Chinese Cantonese food. I came without a reservation at prime time on Ferragosto and they were the only restaurant open in Testaccio. I think if you have a particular dish in mind, best to call ahead and reserve (e.g. whole lobster, steamed sea bass, or crab specialties). I got the bbq pork char siu cheung fun (rice flour roll), the sauteed crab with minced pork in green onions, and a side of stir-fried celery and cashews. The bbq pork roll was appetizer sized, but inside were whole slices of home made char siu (not minced) in a pool of sweetened soy sauce. The crab was a family style platter, as it should be, fresh, subtle and savoury (yes you need to break the shells and get in there with your teeth). Celery/cashews were subtle and perfect accompaniment with a bowl of jasmine steamed rice. It was fantastic and the service was very helpful and kind. Definitely will come back to try more of the dim sum items and seafood dishes. Came back and had the Xiao Long Bao steamed soup dumplings, the ginger green onion sauteed lobster, and full Branzino fish with green onions in soy sauce and oil, which was expertly carved and deboned in front of me. All classic Chinese dishes which were excellently prepared and presented. This place is a hit, but I hope that it can survive in Rome where the focus on Italian food is so strong that anything else requires a specialised palate, and this would limit the customer base to expats, travellers, and a few local people who have experience in fine Asian cuisine and are adventurous enough to navigate the dining format and presentation.

10 stars! The food is amazing. We had dumplings, black fried rice with shrimp, and a hot and sour soup. But the spare ribs were amazing beyond words. If you're staying around the area. I recommend.

This is one of the best Chinese restaurants I've tried in European countries. The ingredients are good quality , the presentation is thoughtful, and the dining environment is clean, comfortable, and hygienic. The prices are reasonable as well. I will definitely visit this place again next time I’m in Italy.
